"When purchasing my first home, we used a Realtor who was a friend of a friend, just starting out in the business, as a way of doing something nice. I quickly learned that being nice is one thing but the business of purchasing a home is something else. Her inexperience showed immediately, as did her desire to make a quick sale and earn her first commission. Every home she showed us, she tried to get us to write an offer. We would tell her why these particular houses didn't meet our needs, but she would try to overcome our objections by explaining why she thought this was the "perfect" house for us (even though she didn't really know us). Rather than listening to our needs, her concern was her own paycheck. It didn't take long before we stopped looking at houses and started looking for a new agent. (Luckily, we were later able to find a much more experienced realtor who was more than happy to take the time to listen to what we wanted and find us the perfect house.)"
